Abolish the Police *

A reflective red sphere with a distorted inside view reflecting shelves and a person, against a black background, with subtitles that read, "I want to look deep into those."
A television on a table with a patterned cloth, showing a scene with a person reflected in a shiny, red spherical object, with subtitles that say "anything just to get out but". In front of the TV are a pair of headphones, an empty white bowl, a spoon, and a potted plant.
A small table with a patterned cloth, a white plate, spoon, fork, and black electronic device, positioned in front of a TV displaying a scene with subtitles, with a colorful rug underneath.

Abolish the Police

2023–24

Abolish the Police is a multimedia project presented as part of the group exhibition ORGANIC COTTON JEANS BY PRIMARK, held at Gemeinschaftshaus Gropiusstadt, Berlin (November 2023 – January 2024).

The exhibition was conceived as a curatorial experiment centered on early-career artists stranded in Berlin and Germany by force of circumstance. It explored what it means to define being, home, belonging, self, and becoming in fluid intersections and unstable in-between spaces, shaped by repressive infrastructures. The show addressed survival as a layered process of making, cognition, antagonistic micro-movements, and transformations that resist capitalist and white gaze-pleasing forms of reproduction.

The video work combines home recordings with computer-generated imagery. The narration is delivered in an AI-generated voice reading a text I wrote, accompanied by AI-generated subtitles that distort the original writing into fragments of gibberish: an experiment in mediated speech, dissonance, and the alienation of self in the immigration experience.
